Haley In Onederland Birthday Party

Alice In Wonderland 1st Birthday Party

Ever since I was a child the magical world of Wonderland has been special to me. There is something about a curious little girl falling down a rabbit hole, and encountering a world full of things that don’t quite make sense. I have been inspired by the Disney movie version, the Lewis Carrol original, and various other film and TV adaptations I’ve seen throughout my life.

This story has left a lasting impression, so much so that I created a secret Pinterest board, years ago, with all of my dreams for a beautiful Alice In Wonderland themed baby shower. Sadly, a week before my dream baby shower was due to take place in March of 2020, the COVID-19 virus was beginning to wreak havoc in the US. The risk was too great, so we cancelled my baby shower. At that moment, I was inspired to rethink this dream of mine, and imagine it for my daughter’s first birthday party instead!

Flash forward to 2021, and my darling little Haley was about to turn one whole year old. My husband suggested we throw her a Daniel Tiger themed birthday party because she loves that show, but being that she won’t actually remember her first birthday, and since it’s really a celebration that we survived the first year of parenthood, the Alice In Wonderland Birthday Party theme took over. Now, if you know me you know that I love a good theme, and I love event planning. I may go a little overboard, but it is always worth it in the end.

Starting with a gorgeous photoshoot by the amazing Monica Browning Photography, we captured Haley in all of her “Onederland” glory, dressed in her sweet Alice inspired outfit. I began collecting decor like mushrooms, rabbits, playing cards, and books, and had an idea in my head of how it would all come together. I also put my Cricut Maker to work, designing and creating giant golden afternoon flowers, and the doorknob, to bring a touch of the Disney adaptation to the Alice In Wonderland Birthday Party.

The project that took the most time was the invitation design. In the end I decided to go with a digital invitation, but I was able to use my own design on Greenvelope.com to send a gorgeous digital invitation simulation to our guests. I used my iPad Pro and my Apple Pencil on the Procreate app to create individual illustrations of the Alice characters, and then I pieced them together in Adobe Illustrator to create the final design. I was also able to use these illustrations for the Thank You cards, and other decor pieces. You can also check out my Amazon storefront list for some of my favorite Alice In Wonderland Party items!

I was so pleased with how everything came together. What a special day to celebrate such a special little girl! Would you throw an Alice In Wonderland Birthday Party for your child?
